LEATHER

PROJACT

My inspiration for this project was the story of the famous killer Jack the Ripper. Jack was the first known serial killer, and his victims were found in the dubious streets of London in the 1880s. Jack is associated with the murder of women, especially prostitutes. Occasionally, it was documented that Jack used to cut the victims' bodies and even take certain organs with him. Curiosity and relevance around Geck's character continues to be present in our own time as there is no identification around the character of the killer. The mission of this project was to create a unique and interesting leather item - inspired by Jack's dark figure, and together with research on women's underwear of the era, I created a collection that combines the characteristics of the victim's underwear with the darkness and toughness of the killer. Mixing the elements between men's and women's clothing, historical and modern elements and together with hand-lace illustrations that are accompanied by handmade pins, creates a contemporary and relevant appearance in today's fashion world.
